Slither — Play the Classic .io Snake Game Online Free
Slither is the snake game that took the world by storm — and you can play it online free, right here, with nothing to download. Steer your snake with your mouse or finger, swallow the glowing orbs scattered across the map to grow longer, and outmaneuver dozens of rival snakes all fighting for the same food.
The rule is brutally simple: if your head touches another snake, you die. If their head touches your body, they die. Everything else is strategy.
How to play Slither
- Steer by moving your mouse (computer) or dragging your finger (phone). Your snake always follows the cursor.
- Eat orbs to grow. The longer you are, the higher you rank — but the slower you turn.
- Boost for a short burst of speed to escape a trap or cut off a rival (you'll shed a little length while boosting).
- Survive. Last snake slithering, or biggest on the board, wins.
The killer move: make them crash into you
You never win by ramming other snakes head-first — that kills you. Instead you win by cutting them off. Swing in front of a rival's head with a sharp turn so their head slams into the side of your body. The instant they crash, their entire length explodes into a glowing trail of orbs — and you're right there to swallow all of it.
This is how small snakes take down giants. A well-timed cut-off in front of the #1 snake can hand you hundreds of orbs and rocket you up the leaderboard.
Strategy tips to top the leaderboard
- Feast on the dead. The orbs from a killed snake are worth far more than the tiny ones scattered around. Always swing back to clean up a kill.
- Coil and trap. Wrap a tight circle around a smaller snake and slowly close it — they'll have nowhere to turn.
- Respect the border. The edge of the map is a death trap. Never let a fight push you into the wall.
- Plan turns early. Big snakes are sluggish. The bigger you grow, the further ahead you must steer.
