How to Play Candy Match — The Sweet Match-3 Puzzle

Candy Match is a match-3 puzzle game in the beloved style of Candy Crush Saga — one of the most successful mobile games of all time. The rules are instantly familiar: swap candies to line up three or more of the same kind, clear them, and watch the board cascade. But scoring big takes real planning.

The core loop

1. Swap two adjacent candies.
2. Match three or more of the same candy in a row or column.
3. Clear — matched candies pop, and the ones above fall down to fill the gaps.
4. Cascade — falling candies can create new matches automatically, triggering combos.
5. Reach the goal before you run out of moves to clear the level.

Scoring and combos

Your score comes from clearing candies, multiplied by your combo level:

• 3-match — basic clear, base points.
• 4-match — bonus points (and a special candy in the full game).
• 5-match — big bonus.
• Combos — when a clear causes a cascade that makes more matches, your combo multiplier rises (x2, x3, x4...). Every candy cleared during the combo is multiplied.

This is the heart of match-3 strategy: a single well-placed swap that sets off a chain reaction can clear an entire level's goal in one move.

The strategy that wins

1. Hunt for cascades, not just matches

A beginner clears any 3 they see. An expert looks for the swap that, after clearing, drops candies into more matches. One cascade-triggering move can be worth ten ordinary ones.

2. Go for 4s and 5s

A 4-match or 5-match is worth far more than three. Before you settle for a basic match, scan for a way to line up four or five of the same candy.

3. Clear from the bottom

Matches lower on the board cause everything above to fall, which often creates free matches on the way down. Bottom clears cascade; top clears don't.

4. Manage your moves

Each level gives you a limited number of moves. Every move should push you meaningfully toward the goal. When you're low on moves, don't waste one on a tiny 3-match — find the big play.

5. Scan both directions

Vertical matches are easy to overlook because our eyes naturally scan horizontally. When you're stuck, deliberately check each column top to bottom.
